Live Blog: Galaxy Unpacked 2019

Expecting big things from Samsung's announcement event

With Mobile World Congress in Barcelona right around the corner, Samsung is looking to get ahead of the curve with their big 10th anniversary announcement. A few things are expected today, based on both Samsung’s own teases and a series of leaks that have come out in recent weeks.

The most obvious release is going to be the Galaxy S10, in both regular and plus sizes. Standout features this year include perpetually shrinking borders, a hole-punch cut-out in the display for the selfie camera, and an in-display fingerprint reader. All of these have been confirmed with leaks, but we’ll have to see what Samsung has leftover to surprise us with.

Another notable release should be the Galaxy Buds. I for one am looking forward to another entry in the truly wireless earbud market that isn’t earpods. While there have been a few good products in recent years, the Apple AirPods still reign supreme in both popularity and functionality. Hopefully Samsung can produce a worthy Android competitor.

Finally, the foldable future is arriving. Samsung is expected to release a folding phone, one that acts as a phone when folded and opens up to a small tablet sized device. They teased this at an event late last year, but details were scant. This one hasn’t leaked much, so I’m looking forward to what Samsung has in store.

The Future is now, but it’s often easy to forget. Events like these remind us of how far we’ve come and what is right around the corner.

The Unpacked event starts at 2PM EST / 12PM MST. Watch the livestream above or keep an eye on the live blog below for real time updates.
